Climate models are computer programs that turn all those weather data into predictions of climate change and its specific effects, such as how much sea level might rise, and how the number of intense heat waves and powerful storms might change in the future. Many people think that scientists are alarmists about climate change, and that their mysterious climate models are rigged to support their alarmism. The truth is just the opposite. If anything, scientists have had to be careful not to overdramatize their predictions, just to get people to listen at all.
