The Speed of Light

How have scientists determined c, the speed of light?

A Brief History

How was the speed of light determined experimentally?

Also includes the first observations suggesting that light HAS a speed, and does NOT travel instantaneously, as it appears to by human perception.

James Clerk (pronounced, roughly, "Clark") Maxwell

On Maxwell's equations and his discovery that light is electromagnetic radiation

Heinrich Hertz: Discovery of radio and EMR besides visible light.

This one is an early effort (2016) of this series, and the monologue is a bit hesitant and rough compared to ones from a few years later (above). But his explanations and simple diagrams are great for revealing the range of impact of Hertz's work, and to show How Scientists Know about EMR beyond the visible range.

NB 2 GR:

Both the Maxwell and Hertz ones might be better for HSK: EMR; if so, link to EMR from here.

Why the Speed of Light Cannot be Measured

Now this one might seem somewhat discouraging, but it's a very interesting look at some of the tacit assumptions we make (but Einstein did not) about how light travels.
